Speakers at the Symposium will include experts from Africa and Europe in the field of human rights and development cooperation.
Africa Legal Aid (AFLA) was founded in 1995 and is headquartered in Accra, Ghana, where it has a Headquarters Agreement with the Government of Ghana. AFLA recently celebrated its 10th Anniversary from 20-21 October 2005. The office in Maastricht serves, among others, as a platform for South-North dialogue on unsettling issues of crucial relevance to Africa. This event is part of AFLA's ongoing efforts to contextualize development cooperation from an African perspective and to engage Northern stakeholders in dialogue with their Southern counterparts with a view to contributing African perspectives to international debates, norms and standard setting.
The Symposium is funded by the National Committee for international cooperation and sustainable development (NCDO).
