Global Citizenship

Global Citizenship

The NICC Foundation has started a new project ‘Global Citizenship’.

In this rapidly globalizing society, it’s more and more important to build a sense of international belonging.

Since 1970 the NCDO Foundation and its predecessors have been working to promote the Dutch involvement in sustainable global development. Sharing knowledge, citizen participation and innovation form a common thread throughout this long history. Although the foundation has ended its executive functions, global citizenship is still a highly relevant topic, and so is the need to promote it.

In this new project NICC will construct a timeline on the history of Global Citizenship as a concept in which the complete history of NCDO will be included.

Besides the history of NCDO, topics that are also important to the subject of global citizenship are themes such as globalization, sustainability, global involvement, equality and sustainable development. By looking at the history of these concepts and how organizations in the Netherlands have been using global citizenship to deal with these issues, we want to create a concise timeline that can be used by anyone who is interested in the history of global citizenship.

Work on the timeline has just started and NICC is in the process of creating a workgroup for this project. By combining the interests of young professionals with the knowledge of experts in the field of global citizenship we hope to encourage an interactive network in which anyone interested in the topic is welcome to do their own research and work together to create this timeline.

We are still looking for enthusiastic volunteers and interns to work with us on the timeline. If you are interested in the subject or would like to share your knowledge, contact us via info@stichtingnicc.nl!
