I have been an educational provider and coordinator working with vulnerable young people for over 8 years. Alongside this, I recently graduated with a Distinction in MSc Conflict, Rights & Justice (SOAS, London) where I specialized in Human Rights, transitional justice, the UK/EU asylum system, and mass displacement.
I am highly analytical, flexible and project-driven, and seek to merge my professional and academic experience by moving into a human rights and justice scope.
A decade of self-employment has taught me the skill of juggling multiple projects, as well as cross-cultural communication and community-building. Sensitivity and empowerment has always been key to my work - plus, quick problem-solving skills in a crisis! For languages, I have written and spoken fluency in English and German, plus a working knowledge and fluency of French. Arabic is also spoken at home.
Opleiding
I gained a distinction for my MSc Conflict, Rights & Justice degree at SOAS, where I specialised in human rights law, conflict resolution and transitional justice mechanisms. During this course, I became impassioned about the politics of protection - namely, having an impact for the betterment of displaced or stateless people who are unprotected by the state. My research shone a light on mass displacement, and I received a PhD offer for my thesis research on Rwanda as a ‘migrant-dispatch-state solution’ for UK/EU offshoring methods. Alongside this, I also stood as the Editor-In-Chief and Graduate Research Associate for the Centre of Conflict, Rights and Justice’s publication (Re)-Imagining Truth and Justice in 2023.
I gained a BA (2:1) in German and French, which gave me a high level of proficiency in both languages, as well as a deeper cultural understanding through politics, literature, film, and history. I wrote my dissertations on 1) Islamophobia within French feminism and 2) male anxieties within Weimar Republic - which was nominated for the Gender and Sexuality Research Institute undergraduate essay prize in 2021.
Ervaring
Liaison position between two logistics teams in UK and Germany and our US-based customer E.L.F. makeup. My role involves overseeing flows to ensure cohesion and unity among staff, addressing customer concerns with empathy, and quick problem-solving when issues arise. My goal is to foster professional relationships and streamline processes in English and German and optimise communications between three teams.
Coordinating and teaching position which provided and delivered SEN curriculums within the UK. I developed and organised programs in line with National Curriculum criteria to private clients as a primary education provider, and managed small teams (3-5 people) to ensure excellent student support for certain clients. This would be overseen by Senior Education Consultants and the Director of Studies when working in tandem with specialist agencies; when working independently, I was the escalation point for clients instead.
As part of the teaching requirements of this work, I generated monthly and annual reports, provided SEN-specific support to students (including those with ASD), edited and marked work, and - most importantly - taught intuitively with kindness, fun and spirit.
Teaching assistant position supporting children with mild-severe developmental and behavioural needs from Reception age to KS3. I worked alongside professionals, such as speech and language therapists, to support children across the currriculum and their interaction with the wider world. This involved learning Makaton sign language and gaining an intermediate knowledge of Autism PECs.
I prepared learning materials and adapted support according to the student's needs, with their social and emotional welfare at the heart of my work. Most of the time, this involved following teacher-led behavioural plans to create routines and ease transitions for students with ASD, as well as maintaining and positive atmosphere even in a crisis.
