An unforgettable visit to The Netherlands

By Iwuoha Moses C, Programme officer AYHD Nigeria

When the Coordinator of Advocate for Youth and Health development (AYHD), Patrick Enwerem, asked me to participate in the Peace of Mind project, I never expected it would be so interesting.

The truth is that my August visit to the Netherlands in partnership with Upact on the Peace of Minds (POM) Summer Course was indeed the appropriate thing that happened at the appropriate time, not only to me as a person, but equally to the organization I represented. Today, just after the visit, our organisation has become more viable and visible in many aspects.

At the end, all that involved in the Summercourse were wonderful and the dedication of the students was amazing! I shall not forget other partner organisations from Bangladesh, Colombia, Baima, Kenya, Uganda and the Netherlands etc.
Most importantly, I just want to use this medium to call on all stakeholders that believe in the power of the youth to make a change to rise up and support this noble cause that these students have initiated through Upact’s Peace of Minds Academy.

Supporting this group of young men to push to fruition their idea which will impact positively in the lives of women and girls in Nigeria will spur them to do more and indeed become the future leaders we all envisage. Those in my group are working on active citizenship and the issue of election violence in Nigeria. A topic that is very crucial and important in Nigeria. I want to assure to everyone that attends and donates to this project that every Euro will be used for its purpose.

As an organization, we have the passion and determination just as these students from the Netherlands and I am of the view that when such atmosphere has been created the objective will for sure be achieved. I therefore encourage all to attend and be part of this epoch making event.
