Democracy Schools

In Indonesia, NIMD and its Jakarta-based partner Kommunitas Indonesia untuk Demokrasi (KID) support a growing number of Democracy Schools that train young politicians and activists in democratic practices and values. Many graduates of these schools are now participating as candidates in the upcoming local and parliamentary elections.

In the weeks leading up to the general elections on 9 April 2009, Democracy School graduates from three regions (Malang, East Java; Banyuasin, Sumatera Selatan; and Lembata, Nusa Tenggara Timur) report from the campaign trail. You can follow their reports on the Blog Indonesia Elections.
