Simavi

Too much, too little or too dirty water. Globally, women and girls are hit hardest by climate change and the lack of safe drinking water and toilets. For a quarter of the world's population, access to water, toilets and hygiene is still far from a given, especially as climate change increases the problem. Especially for girls and women.

 

Simavi is an independent international non-profit organization that works with partners in 10 countries in Africa and Asia on programmes that support local solutions so women and girls can enjoy their human rights to water, a toilet and equal treatment.

Purpose of the job

The (Senior) Institutional Fundraiser is responsible for mobilisation of funding, development of impactful programs and internal coordination of effective fundraising including the maintenance of Simavi’s institutional donor base through effective account management and communication.

Position in the organisation

The (Senior) Institutional Fundraiser is coached by the Director Fundraising and Engagement and coaches the Institutional Fundraiser.

Main tasks:

Coordinate the development of impactful programmes at Simavi:

• Identify opportunities for fundraising

• Build relationships with new donors and coordinates effective programme development with programme leads

• Develops donor mappings and fundraising strategies to accelerate fundraising for Simavi’s key programmes

• Coordinates or supports the institutional fundraising and programme development within Simavi with the programme leads, regional representatives and institutional fundraiser in a matrixed organisation

Develop and maintain networks and partnerships

• Strong account management on key accounts and build relationships with key donors

• Initiate partnerships with other relevant NGO’s and CSO’s

• Identify new trends and developments, relations, and potential partnerships relevant for Simavi

• Participate in relevant network events in the Netherlands and internationally to profile Simavi

Identify and raise programme funding

• Collect information on opportunities and requirements for Simavi to attract external programme funding from institutional sources (national and international subsidies, incountry funds, corporate funds, international foundations, development banks, etc)

• Write and submit impactful proposals, meeting donor requirements and secure effective follow up.

Knowledge and experience

• Academic level with minimum of 5 years’ experience with development programmes in a field relevant to Simavi’s area’s of intervention water, climate and gender

• Innovative and strategic thinker, capable of finding pragmatic solutions to complex problems

• Good networker, excellent communicator and interpersonal skills

• Eye for detail, application of strong financial rigor, discretion and integrity

• Excellent communication skills in English and Dutch

• Preparedness to travel occasionally to other countries

We offer a contract for one year as a start, with the option for extending, for 36 hours per week. The salary depends on the number of relevant years of working experience. Simavi also offers: 22,5 days of vacation per year (fulltime basis), 8% holiday allowance, a mobile phone allowance, commuting allowance for days worked at the office, a pension insurance and a disability insurance.

Procedure

The procedure consists of at least 2 interviews, including a presentation, a reference check and a Certificate of Good Conduct.
