Omschrijving

Rutgers is the leading Dutch center of expertise on sexuality. We are active in The Netherlands and internationally in about 20 countries. Together with other civil society organisations, professionals in the field and experts by experience, we advocate for positive change on issues that matter and have a major impact on people's health and lives. We work to improve sexual and reproductive health and rights, access to sexuality education and information, access to contraception and safe abortions, and on the prevention of sexual violence. We do this in a variety of ways. Rutgers connects research, practice and advocacy. We are there for everyone, with an extra focus on young people. We speak out against injustice and for important human values, especially when they are under pressure.

Join our

Pool of external researchers and PMEL experts

This is a pool of consultants who would like to work on Rutgers research or planning, monitoring, evaluation and learning (PMEL) assignments.

What joining our roster means

All Rutgers’ programmes are evidence informed. Research and planning, monitoring, evaluation, learning (PMEL) are central to our work. We have opportunities for research and PMEL consultants on a regular basis. Sometimes for parental leave cover. Sometimes because we are looking for specific expertise to complement the expertise of our internal researchers. And sometimes because we have acquired extra work. This year we start working with a pool of external researchers. All our research assignments will be shared with people registered in this roster. So if you want to be the first to know about new research assignments, then joining our roster is essential!

For additional background information on Rutgers, please consult www.rutgers.nl and www.rutgers.international.

What we are looking for

We look for consultants with skills, expertise and a passion for qualitative and/or quantitative research and PMEL. As we often use participatory approaches we appreciate experience and interest in participatory research and PMEL expertise. Proficiency in Dutch is sometimes needed, but not mandatory for joining the roster. English, French or Arabic are evenly important. If you have other language skills, especially those that are used in the countries we work in, this can be an advantage.

The minimum criteria for joining the roster are:

  • Proven qualitative or quantitative research skills
  • Completed education in a relevant field. Minimum Master's degree level.
  • Business proficiency of English and at least one other language (for instance: Dutch, French or Arabic)
  • Affinity in sexual and reproductive health and rights in general, or in one or more of our themes: comprehensive sexuality education, sexual and gender based violence, and access to contraception and safe abortion.

Interested?

Interested consultants can apply to the Rutgers External Researchers Pool using this link. You will be asked to upload your cv and a writing sample. We will also ask you to answer some questions about your research skills, expertise on specific themes and language skills.

Once you’ve joined the pool, your profile will be visible for a couple of our internal researchers, PMEL experts and HR. A team of internal researchers will evaluate your application. If they determine you’re eligible to join, you will be included in the pool. This means you will be the first to know when we have new research assignments available!

If you are hired for a specific research assignment, we ask you to submit a Certificate of Good Conduct (Verklaring omtrent Gedrag). In that stage, a reference check will also take place. We use the Misconduct Disclosure Scheme to request written references.

By submitting your application for the Rutgers External Researchers Pool, you agree that Rutgers will save your cv, writing sample and filled in form for a maximum of 12 months.
