We are seeking a highly motivated Nature-based Solutions intern to join the Princess Margriet Fund (PMF) team, an initiative of the Netherlands Red Cross. The intern will work with the PMF team in an agile set up, support different service pillars of the Fund and the Internation Federation of the Red Cross Red Cresent Societies (IFRC) network where possible for climate change adaptation, and specifically Nature-based Solutions (NbS). The intern will learn about the background of the Red Cross and Red Crescent movement on climate adaptation for disaster risk reduction, the urgency to scale up the efforts on reducing the impact of climate induced natural hazards to people and the ecosystem, available tools, the full project cycle of NbS, global partnership collaboration with WWF, TNC and IUCN, the communication of best practices and learnings from worldwide implementation, resource mobilization and the application of innovative finance for NbS.
Where are you going to work?
The Fund works closely with the IFRC (Geneva and regional offices) and National Societies worldwide to support the thematic area: climate adaptation and NbS. The role of the Fund provides a dynamic scope of work from supporting locally led program to building global partnerships, furthermore, an opportunity to work side by side with specific National Societies as well as the community of practice within the movement. The Fund promotes and supports the development of climate adaptation & landscape restoration programs including NbS for long term structural disaster prevention and risk reduction across the Red Cross Red Crecent network. The goal is to strengthen the resilience of vulnerable communities worldwide that are affected by natural hazards exacerbated by climate change. We do this by protecting nature to protect people and support resource mobilization for mentioned programs, accelerating and scaling our work on Climate Change Adaptation (CCA).

What are your core tasks going to be?
- Explore and update funding trends, news and opportunities, donor mapping;
- Support partnership building together with IFRC and National Societies on WWF, TNC, IUCN and local partnerships;
- Conduct mapping of NbS projects worldwide, gathering best practices, showcases, case studies and learnings, create concise reports;
- Support editorial tasks for communication materials, for example, presentations, pitches, concept notes, proposals, ToRs, website etc.;
- Participate meetings and support with secretarial tasks;
- Support the Fund to co-lead IFRC NbS Working Group, ensure agreed items are implemented;
- Support ongoing business development leads;
- Provide inputs for process improvement (way of working, format, modality);
- Provide project management support, update PMF dashboard with latest progress.

- Currently enrolled in a Master’s program relevant to international development/relations, environmental sciences/governance/management, sustainable development etc.;
- Very clear verbal and written communication skills in English, Dutch is a bonus;
- Good understanding and sensitivity towards People and Culture;
- Good skills in creating content using different softwares;
- Organized and structured working style, execellent management skills;
- Team player, that can work easily with others and independently;
- Entrepreneurial mindset, solution and detail oriented;
- General knowledge about the RCRC movement and passionate about nature restoration in the humanitarian sector.

What we offer you:
A unique opportunity to gain practical and all-around experiences with the PMF team and the international network from technical content, business development, resource mobilization, partnership building to communications. You will be part of a small and agile team that supports RCRC movement wide thematic expertise on nature-based solutions/ecosystem-based adaptation. The intern will receive guidance on weekly basis from the PMF team. We provide an internship allowance (stagevergoeding) of gross 401,25 euros per month (as per 1.0 FTE i.e. 40 hours per week). Note that the internship does not require travel and will be fully Netherlands-based.
