Internship on gender-just, sustainable and circular food systems in our INCiTiS-FOOD project

We are looking for an intern to support our work as gender partner of the INCiTiS-FOOD programme at our international office in Utrecht, the Netherlands. The intern will support the project team with the overall planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting of the program.

Who are we?

We are a non-profit network dedicated to a gender-just and healthy planet for all. Our international network consists of over 250 women’s and civil society organisations in 70 countries. We believe that a sustainable and equitable future needs feminist solutions led by the people who are at the frontlines of the multiple crises we face. That is why we work on transformative gender equality and women’s rights in interconnection with sustainable development and climate justice.

Who are you? 

• You are based in the Netherlands 
• You are a university student, recent graduate or have equivalent analytical and research skills 
• You are interested and knowledgeable about some of the following: food systems, circularity, food governance and food policies, especially in the African context 
• You are a flexible, autonomous and proactive person –that is, you take initiatives to support the project and colleagues 
• You share WECF’s values and vision  
• You have excellent communication skills (spoken and written) in English  
• You already have some experience with organizing activities and events (virtual and/or in-person)  
• You are looking for a learning experience in an international civil society organization

What do we offer? 

• We encourage international students to apply for an Erasmus+ grant. If this is not available, we offer a compensation of €150 a month (based on 24 hours per week)  
• Being part of an enthusiastic international team based in Utrecht. The internship is a hybrid position with the option to work from home 
• Get more insight into inclusive food governance from a feminist perspective 
• Learning experience on how to implement a project funded by the European Union 
• Professional mentoring from the project team 
• Travel reimbursement based on second class public transport ticket with a discount card 

Tasks 

• Help with the overall planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting of the project and its work packages 
• Support collaboration with consortium partners and Living Labs 
• Support the organization of the Inclusivity Team meetings and building a Community of Practice 
• Note-taking for various meetings  
• Support communication activities contributing to the visibility of the project (e.g. social media posts, writing articles, visual designs) 
• General support to the activities of WECF International  

When?

This internship is for 16 - 24 hours per week, for a minimum duration of 6 months. The typical working days of the WECF office are Monday to Thursday, with a preference for availability on Tuesday and Thursday. Applications close on 12 May. Interviews will take place in the week of 13 - 17 May, with a preferred starting date around 10 June (open to discussion with the selected candidate).
