Training on Photovoice

-
Our training provides both theoretical knowledge and practical experience in the use of Photovoice. Using photography, this storytelling method allows for opening a dialogue between beneficiaries and/or stakeholders, creating a (safe) space for them to express themselves and reflect on issues related to project implementation.

Aim: This training aims to equip participants with knowledge and skills in:

  • Visual literacy
  • Participatory photography
  • How to set up and design your own Photovoice project
  • The different uses and benefits of Photovoice (e.g. in M&E and advocacy)

Method: A combination of theory and practice. It will focus on helping participants to understand what Photovoice is, when to use the method, and when not to use it. It will also introduce basic skills in handling a camera, preparing equipment for a photo shoot, building capacity to implement Photovoice and integrating Photovoice in a wider range of purposes, from Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) to advocacy, research and community based activities, as well as for marketing purposes.

Participants:

Our training will be valuable for anyone looking for new and creative ways to gain insight and understanding into people’s lived experiences and concerns, such as: NGO staff, researchers, educators, community- health- or social workers, photographers, visual artists and marketers.

Duration: 3 days
