Omschrijving

Profundo provides action-oriented research, advice, and capacity building for civil society and public organisations. To advance sustainability and social justice, many stakeholders need to change course. To help our clients identify opportunities to create change, we see it as our role to unravel the facts, analyse the patterns, and expose the vested interests.

We are looking for an experienced Office and Communications Manager

This is the job for you if you like every day to be different and are comfortable balancing two different kinds of roles. You have strong organisational skills and are willing to build experience in your communication skills.

Office manager tasks
As Office manager, you will be at the centre of all ins and outs at the office, you organise team-building activities, support Profundo’s mission and enjoy being the first line of support for your colleagues. No day is the same, with a mix of ad-hoc and recurring tasks, including:
Facility & organisation:
• answering the phone, taking care of (e-)mail, maintaining contact with our IT-support and suppliers;
• planning of meetings, team-building activities, internal and external trainings;
• assisting colleagues with organising their business trips abroad;
• supporting the director with minor administrative tasks;
• supporting colleagues to keep our database of finished projects up-to-date;
• managing office stocks;
• coordinating the work of our lunch cook and cleaning help.

Human resources:
• publishing vacancies, managing the application process and managing employment contracts;
• being responsible for the onboarding of new staff;
• organising regular review talks for all colleagues;
• maintaining contact with the OHS service, accountant and pension insurer, in cooperation with our bookkeeper;
• maintaining contacts with colleagues who are ill;
• (re-)writing policies on human affairs, privacy, diversity & inclusion, stress prevention, etc.;
• being in charge of the regular evaluation of work-related risks and employee satisfaction surveys.

Communications manager tasks
As Communications manager, you will be responsible for both our internal and external communications. You enjoy learning and writing about sustainability challenges and you are full of creative ideas for different approaches to generate publicity for our research results, trainings and other activities.
Your tasks will include:
• writing short, captivating texts about new research reports, trainings and events, and publishing them on our website, LinkedIn and potentially other social media;
• using website texts and social media publications to create our monthly external newsletter;
• planning and reviewing the monthly expert views written by colleagues, to be included in the external newsletter;
• compiling our weekly internal newsletter with internal and external news relevant to our work;
• looking for opportunities to increase the public exposure of Profundo’s work.

What we expect
We expect you to be enthusiastic to support our organisation in a professional way. Preferably, you have worked as an office manager within a similar organisation before. If you also have communications experience, that is a plus but not a requirement: we are happy for you to develop these skills as you go. We additionally expect you to:
• have good English written and verbal communication skills, but they do not need to be perfect. Knowledge of the Dutch language is a plus, but not a requirement;
• be able to work accurately, independently and quickly;
• have adequate experience with Word and Excel;
• possess good organisational and planning skills and strong social skills;
• live within commuting distance of our office in Amsterdam.

What we offer
Working at Profundo means joining a multi-disciplinary team of over 20 professionals with different cultural backgrounds, from 12 different countries. You will be able to work in an environment where people are highly motivated and are working on projects of high social relevance, for civil society and public organisations from all over the world. Our organisational culture is open, democratic, respectful and informal, allowing everybody to bring in ideas and to be involved in the development of our organisation. Additionally, we offer:
• a contract for 32 hours per week, preferably spread across 4 or 5 days (to be determined in consultation);
• flexible working hours and the right to switch public holidays;
• the opportunity to work partly from home, making it easier to combine your work life with your private life;
• a friendly office close to the Amsterdam Sloterdijk train station;
• a resting room at the office which can be used for praying or meditation;
• twice a week a healthy vegetarian lunch at the office for free, which can be adjusted to accommodate different dietary preferences (Halal, Kosher, allergies, a.o.);
• a lot of attention to the health and safety of our staff;
• being part of an international team which usually communicates in English;
• an (indicative) initial monthly salary for 32 hours per week of € 2,587 gross per month;
• an annual inflation correction and performance-based salary increases; and
• a good pension scheme and other fringe benefits.
