We are:
Zamaneh Media is a Persian language media organization based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. It provides independent journalism, citizen reporting, debate and knowledge to an audience in Iran and the Persian speaking community around the world, building bridges between Iran and the Iranian diaspora and between different Persian speaking communities, such as in Afghanistan and Central Asia.
It is a public media that gives a voice to the unheard: geographic, ethnic and sexual minorities, young Iranians, experts, writers, bloggers, artists and independent academic thinkers are all engaged in conversations about a wide range of issues that are considered public taboos in present-day Iran.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
Grants & Project Management
Take on responsibility from start to finish on specific project grants and the activities within that grant including:
- Coordinating the implementation of the activities across the different internal and external individuals and teams involved ensuring timely delivery, within budget
- Partly implementing activities directly oneself (depending on the skill set and background knowledge of the individual and what can logically be expected)- Frequent M&E of grant activities and informing management of progress, timely flagging delays or budget constraints and suggesting alternative implementation methods
- Preparing and submitting narrative reports to donors - Cross-checking budget allocation of grant activities with the finance department
- Draft service agreements and when necessary sub-granting agreements with partners
- Manage partnerships in a friendly pro-active and supportive manner and actively seek for new partnerships within the grant activities
Fundraising
- Write concept notes for funding proposals independently
- Help write full applications (with content provided by specialists on the team)
- Draft logical frameworks / theories of change for funding proposals independently
- Pro-actively follow and search for new opportunities for funding and new donors
- Pro-actively support management in preparing for fundraising trips and develop communication materials to this effect
We are looking for someone who is:
- University educated
- Experienced in program coordination and program management (at least 5 years), preferably in a (international) development setting
- Mindful towards security and sensitivities surrounding Iran human rights work and respectful to everyone involved in the work
- An all-round team player, open to stepping in on other projects, brainstorm with the team, coordinates in a non-directive style and who can make connections between editorial and non-editorial activities and the people involved
- Passionate about supporting independent media and journalism activities within a challenging setting, knowledge of media development is an asset.
- Open to learn about the complexities in the context of Iran and support the mission and vision of Zamaneh and its approach towards human rights work
- Fluent in English, especially also in writing. A strong command of Dutch and/or Persian is an asset.
We offer:
- An exciting work environment in a driven international team, both in Amsterdam and around the world.
- A salary of between €4233,22 and €4524,44 per month on fulltime basis (38 hours / week), depending on education and experience, plus 8% holiday allowance.
- Inclusion in the Zamaneh Media pension fund.
- 25 vacation days on fulltime basis.
