Fair Wear Foundation is an international multi-stakeholder organisation that is governed by Business Associations, Trade Unions and Labour Rights NGOs. We work primarily with garment brands to improve labour conditions in their supply chains.

FWF has achieved significant international growth and particularly so over the last two years, and is a leading multi-stakeholder initiative driving change in garment supply chains.

Fair Wear Foundation is looking for a

Director (36 hours/week)

The organisation is made up of highly skilled and highly motivated professionals; currently around 38 employees work at the head office. We are looking for a Director who is energised by and thrives in a dynamic team structure where everyone enjoys actively contributing to the organisation’s success.

The primary responsibilities of the director are:

o   to lead FWF’s Management Team to ensure effective

strategic development and external positioning,
policy development and impact strategies,
day-to-day operations,
development and implementation of financial  and  HR strategies and policies

o    to represent externally the organisation as one of the leaders in improving labour conditions and creating innovative models for changing the garment industry

o    to be an advocate of FWF’s goals

o   to foster and develop FWF’s existing, and new relationships, with (potential) donors

o   to ensure the long term financial stability of the organisation

o   to report directly to the Board, to facilitate dialogue between FWF’s Board, the Executive Committee and the FWF Management Team.


o   Proven capacity to liaise with a wide range of stakeholders and a relevant multi-stakeholder network

o   Experience in a comparable management position

o   Proven knowledge of and experience with financial management of an organisation

o   Strong sense of ethics

o   Demonstrated understanding of human rights or labour rights

o   Demonstrated understanding of business processes

o   Knowledge of consumer goods industry


o   Excellent networking and negotiation skills

o   Political and intercultural sensitivity

o   Strong command of English (second European language would be a plus)

o   Strong problem-solving and social skills

o   Strong analytical skills
