Guided by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations, our knowledge work focuses on health care, gender, economic development and intercultural cooperation.
Our campus in Amsterdam houses a training centre for students and professionals, and is the home of SDG House: a community of sustainability experts and social entrepreneurs with a membership of 50+ organisations. KIT owns and operates Amsterdam Tropen Hotel, De Tropen café and restaurant, and offers hospitality and conference facilities in our heritage building, the revenues of which contribute to KIT’s mission.
The Marketing Communications unit is responsible for the Institute’s corporate communications and provides a wide range of marketing and communications support to internal clients. The unit currently comprises a team of six staff members and a manager. To help us reinforce KIT’s profile and market KIT’s knowledge products and services, we are recruiting a Digital Content Creator.
About the role
As Digital Content Creator you will help us collect, develop and disseminate stories about the experts that drive KIT’s mission and the results they achieve with their work. You capture stories using a variety of means and formats – ranging from video interviews and infographics to case studies, social media postings and news articles – that target a diverse audience, including policy makers, journalists, development practitioners, corporate executives and trainers. Your work will entail conducting interviews, producing videos, writing and editing texts. Within the team you will assume responsibility for the content agenda and management of KIT’s corporate social media channels (LinkedIn, FaceBook, Twitter). You will also share responsibility for account management of several expert teams as internal clients.
Our ideal candidate knows how to create compelling audiovisual content from scratch, has excellent writing / editing skills in English (native or near-native) and preferably in Dutch as well, and has an affinity for international development & sustainability issues. As a Digital Content Creator you should perform well under tight deadlines and be detail-oriented. If you also bring experience in developing content for private sector audiences, and know how to create engaging infographics, we would like to meet you.
As Digital Content Creator you will:
- Work with experts, students and entrepreneurs on efforts to collect, develop and disseminate compelling stories about their work;
- Produce videos, including interviews, vlogs, event reports, and other audiovisual content;
- (Re)write texts, including news articles, media releases, case studies, brochures, social media posts, advertisements, etc…;
- Manage KIT’s corporate social media channels;
- Serve as account manager for several expert teams as internal clients;
- 5+ years of experience as a digital content creator or copy writer/editor with a demonstrated track record of producing compelling audiovisual content;
- Excellent writing skills in English (must have: native or near-native) and preferably in Dutch too;
- Excellent video-production skills and a hands-on mentality;
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in creative writing, journalism or equivalent;
- Residency or a visa that enables you to work in The Netherlands.

A salary based on qualifications and experience of between € 2887 and € 3985 gross per month (full time basis). In addition there is an 8% holiday allowance and admission to the KIT pension fund (ABP). Initial one-year, part time (32 hours per week) contract with the possibility of extension after demonstrated good performance.
