The Hague Academy for Local Governance is a foundation that develops and organises training programmes with the aim of strengthening (local) government worldwide. Our trainees are people who work for governments and civil society organisations in developing and transition countries as well as staff of international donor and development organisations. The Academy works closely with VNG International, the organisation for international cooperation of the Association of Dutch Municipalities.
Our training programs are partly funded by organisations such as the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the European Union, UN organizations and the World Bank. In addition, there are open training courses for which participants pay for themselves or receive a scholarship from Nuffic. The Hague Academy also has a special training and internship programme for young, talented municipal officials from developing countries: Talent for Governance.
