AIDS Healthcare Foundation

The Los Angeles-based AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) is a global non-profit organization providing cutting-edge medicine and advocacy to over 1 Million people in 43 countries in Africa, North and South America, Asia and Europe. We are currently the largest provider of HIV/AIDS medical care in the U.S.

AHF Checkpoint

AHF Checkpoint is a free, confidential community-based service offering low threshold HIV testing, prevention and referral services.

AHF Checkpoint services are designed to be more easily accessible to people, complementing the HIV testing services provided by standard medical facilities. This means that the AHF Checkpoint site has extended opening hours — in the afternoons, evenings, and on weekends (the times that often work best for our clients). AHF Checkpoint also has a mobile van that provides services in discreet locations in different communities, and offers services at outdoor and indoor testing events throughout the year.

Appointments are not needed — clients can walk-in, get tested right away, and receive their rapid test results during the visit that are 99.5% accurate.

AHF Checkpoint aims to provide services that are culturally appropriate for the population being served. This includes services offered by non-judgmental lay testers who are sensitive to the ethnicity, gender, sexuality/sexual orientation, age, literacy-level, language, ability to understand medical concepts and other factors that could affect the client’s experience.
