War Child Holland invests in a peaceful future for children affected by armed conflict. Our mission is to help war children to change the future. Some 32 million children in countries affected by armed conflict are out of school. Furthermore, under investment in schooling systems and infrastructures and lack of teachers has meant that entire generations of children and youth are denied the right to education.
Can’t Wait to Learn provides a highly effective and cost efficient solution to close the education gap for millions of children around the world affected by conflict. It is a digital tablet-based innovation programme providing children access to quality education, in both formal school settings or inside their communities. It offers children the opportunity to (continue to) learn to read, write and count through a self-paced digital game, which is specifically created to reflect their world and context. We work together with Ministries of Education to ensure that learning objectives are based on the national curricula. Children’s progress is monitored and used for further improvements of the programme. The programme is currently operational in Jordan, Lebanon, Sudan, Uganda, and Chad.
The Intern will report to the Programme Director Can’t Wait to Learn. The Intern also maintains regular contact with the Programme Coordinator, Senior Quality Advisor, the Content Coordinator and the Finance Manager.
- Support day to day management of the programme team with tasks such as communications, documentation, programme operations, fundraising, and strategy implementation
- Provide support in organizing meetings and events, and preparing materials for these
- Support the team with reporting, and administrative tasks
- Support with communications and coordination with country programme teams
- Coordinate smaller procurements and invoicing.
- You are a Bachelor’s or Master student in Social Sciences, Liberal Arts, Business Administration or similar and you maintain honours level standards
- You are enrolled in a Dutch higher education institute for the whole duration of the internship
- Proven ability to solve problems and leverage appropriate resources to produce quality outcomes
- Very strong teamwork and communication skills including presentation preparation and delivery
- Strong ability to produce quality work outputs within agreed priorities and to deadlines
- Preferably, you have knowledge of NGO and/or development sector
- Excellent command of English language, both spoken and written
- Based in the Netherlands, available for preferable 4-5 days per week (negotiable) at the War Child office in Amsterdam.
- Available to start September 2021 for a period of 6 months.

We are looking for an Intern CWTL Programme who will join our Team from for a period of 6 months for preferable 4-5 days per week (negotiable), starting September 2021. As intern in War Child you can count on an interesting internship, with an opportunity to learn a lot. Of course you will get guidance, but also freedom to work out your ideas. As per War Child Intern Policy, your fee will be €200 gross per month (based on 5 days). Travel costs will be reimbursed.
Please note that War Child interns need to be registered students at a Dutch educational institutions. This is a hard requirement. Students must be enrolled for the duration of their internship. Please note that this internship does not suit students who are in their thesis writing semesters.
