In NIMD headquarters I assisted a project that sought to evaluate the
effectiveness of democracy support and explored adaptability measures for future
democracy programs in Myanmar, Somaliland, and Colombia, as the primary
case studies. The research methodology involved trend analysis and interviews
with different people, including NGO personnel, beneficiaries of democracy
support funding, and representatives from various domains including politics,
academia, education, and international organizations.
I was in charge of the implementation of the project named “Protection of
leadership for an Inclusive Democracy” (PLDI in Spanish), which innovated in
the process of public policy formulation by enabling hands-on workshops
scenarios where political and social leaders came together to build strategies for preventing violence against themselves. All of this was possible through fostering dialogue among participants, and my tasks went from reviewing the
methodology to the actual formulation of policy paper proposals, which then
were presented to policymakers as a way of political lobbying and advocacy.
