About Terre des Hommes
Terre des Hommes Nederland aims to protect children by preventing and stopping child exploitation. And by enabling children to make their voices count. Terre des Hommes Nederland focuses on (online) sexual exploitation of children, child labour and humanitarian action. For each of these forms of child exploitation, Terre des Hommes Nederland develops and implements projects and programmes through local partners, mainly in Asia, Africa and Europe. Join us!
About the position
Are you a student with strong communication skills, looking to gain experience in project management at an NGO and passionate about (online) safety and rights of children in the Netherlands? As an intern in the Sexual Exploitation of Children (SEC) Program Team, you will learn new skills, work closely with the Program Manager to develop a brand new program and at the same time contribute to our work to end child exploitation!
Purpose of the role
The intern for the Sexual Exploitation of Children (SEC) program in the Netherlands is the right hand of the Program Manager in developing a completely new program at Terre des Hommes. Together you will work on devising and rolling out new plans to make an impact for children in the Netherlands with this program. This means that on the one hand you will learn about project management and daily activities at an NGO, and on the other hand you can contribute your ideas to plans and activities. We are therefore looking for someone who gets energy from helping to organize a sparring session with parents one day, and the next day coming up with a cool social media post about the research we are doing. An internship where you can develop your organizational skills and communication skills.
The Team
Our SEC team consists of international Program Managers and Project Managers. Every day we focus on the theme of sexual exploitation of children (SEC) worldwide. In addition to the SEC team, you will work with all kinds of colleagues at our office in The Hague, from the communications manager to researchers and lobbyists. Every Monday morning we have a meeting with the international SEC team, monthly we have a meeting with all colleagues involved for the Dutch program, and in addition you join other meetings when necessary.
The tasks and responsibilities
Getting coffee or setting the lunch table is not an option during your internship! You will be working on various internship activities:
- Managing the email box that parents can contact directly for questions or for events that we organize;
- Based on research, you will work with the communications team to write appealing pieces of text for social media posts and for the new website that will go live in April 2025;
- Helping to organize meetings with parents to assess our work;
- Ondersteunen van onderzoek door ons onderzoeksteam wanneer nodig, bijvoorbeeld door te helpen met een focusgroep organiseren;
- Dagelijkse ondersteuning van de Programmamanager met ad hoc-activiteiten;
- Onderzoek of andere teksten vertalen van Engels naar Nederlands zodat onze Nederlandse achterban het kan lezen;
The requirements
The Offer
What we have to offer, apart from the above!
Wij bieden:
- Een stage waarbij je echt het verschil kunt maken voor kinderen in Nederland;
- Een organisatie met enthousiaste en ervaren collega’s;
- Een goed bereikbaar kantoor midden in Den Haag;
- Een stagecontract van 6 maanden;
- De stagevergoeding bedraagt 400 EUR per maand op basis van 36 uur per week;
- Mogelijke startdatum 1 februari of zo spoedig mogelijk.
