Do you want to make a positive impact on small and medium-sized enterprises in upcoming markets? Are you someone who can coordinate well and enjoy matching a group of Dutch technical experts with the demand of SMEs from developing countries? Then PUM has a challenging volunteer role as sector coordinator available for you!

For the sectors Metal, Sales & Value Chain Management, Accountancy & Financial Management, Healthcare Services, Food and Beverage Processing, and Animal Feed Production and Poultry we are looking for suitable candidates for the position of Sector Coordinator for each of the sectors.

In the position of Sector Coordinator, you have the chance to:

• Support the experts in your sector to implement the PUM strategy;
• Assess the requests from the countries and match them with experts in your database;
• Recruit and select new experts for your sector;
• Work with in position which supports the sustainable private sector development and volunteering;

• Work together with a diverse group of sector coordinators (also volunteer positions).

Sector Coordinator Metal
Our metal experts are specialised in metals as well as cast iron, steel and nonferrous materials, from processing raw materials to manufacturing of finished products and from design to maintenance and repair of machines. We also share our experience in process optimisation, efficiency and productivity, quality control, environmental and working conditions. This sector consists of around 45 experts.

Sector Healthcare Services 
PUM experts offer advice to a wide range of organisations that provide healthcare services in different segments of the healthcare industry - including hospitals, medical centers, laboratories and dental clinics. PUM provides assistance primarily to private medical enterprises but our experts are also well-equipped to assist various other types of organisations involved in healthcare delivery. This sector has approximately 100 experts.

Sector Coordinator Sales & Value Chain Management 
Our PUM experts provide advice on how to improve your (logistic) processes, strategic stock planning and warehousing, how to expand your supply chain services (product/market combinations) and how to improve your profitability. This sector has approximately 65 experts.

Sector Coordinator Animal Feed Production and Poultry 
PUM experts offer know-how and experience for the feed milling industry. They extend advice on the topics of feed formulation, manufacturing of concentrates and feed mill management. They also share knowledge about machinery and other equipment, laboratory work and quality assurance. PUM experts also advise on poultry production, housing and processing. They also have in-depth knowledge of ducks, geese, pigeons and rabbits, guinea pigs, etc. This sector has a total of around 36 experts- which includes 25 Poultry farming experts and 11 animal feed production experts.

Sector Coordinator Accountancy & Financial Management
Our experts are chartered accountants or have a financial background in business such as CFOs, controllers and bookkeepers. Many of the assignments are in the field of implementing and upgrading financial administrations by learning to produce (periodic) management reports.

The drawing up of business plans for, among other things, obtaining more financial strength and cost price calculations and strategy issues are also discussed. There will also be requests from Professional Audit Firms or individual small and medium-sized practitioners to assist them in the audit sector, such as providing training. This sector has approximately 31 experts.

About PUM 
We advise SMEs in developing countries and emerging markets since 1978. Entrepreneurs and businesses approach us – often via our representatives in 37 countries – and request advice. We then link them to one of our Dutch professionals who share their knowledge and experience voluntarily. We currently work with a network of approximately 1300 volunteers and 45 fixed staff.

Our experts execute short-term, solid consultancy projects, either on the work floor or via remote coaching. They collaborate with our clients, so that these develop into a growth engine for the local economy. This benefits both employment and the sustainable economic development of the region. Furthermore, as the contacts established regularly lead to major trade relations, the Dutch economy benefits as well.

What do you bring?  

• Strong experience and knowledge of the relevant sector, preferably as entrepreneur, but in can also be as a coordinator or manager.
• Time and availability of at least 2 full days a week (or several half days) to dedicate tot his position at PUM.

• Dutch is your native language and you speak and write English fluently.  French language skills are an advantage.
• You are digitally savvy. You have experience with MS office, including Teams.
• You have an affinity with working in an intercultural environment.

Good to know 

• Your start date is asap.
• You are based in The Netherlands and are available to work at the office in The Hague 1 day a week on average.
