Quality management and green response intern

24 - 32 hours per week, The Hague

What can you expect from this role?

Quality management and green response are part of the Strategy, Diplomacy, Evidence and Quality Unit of the International Department. The team takes care of the quality management system and the green response within our department. This means that we ensure that all our policies, processes, changes and efforts to improve continuously are well communicated, accessible and user friendly for the staff who need to follow them.

The quality, risk, logistics and green team consists of 4 employees who are in charge of the different areas of the quality management system. The intern will specifically support the Integrity and Quality coordinator in the project of designing and rolling out of an internal communication newsletter and on improving our internal communication of policies and procedures including on environmental sustainability and green response reporting and awareness, through the development of awareness materials.



What are you going to do

You will overall support the quality management team in the different areas of its remit, including quality and risk management, logistic and green response. You will be learning from the team and you will gain experience in a humanitarian context.

Some of the specific projects that you will be supporting are:

  • Visualization of the quality management system to ensure user friendliness.
  • Development of communication materials for quality management and green response.
  • Internal newsletter for the international department.
  • Support alignment with the Domestic Department of NLRC.

In addition, you will have the opportunity to be part of a committed team that links and works together with all the operational areas of the work of the International Assistance Department of NLRC.


What do you bring/who are we looking for?

  • You are a student in the final phase of your industrial design engineering or a similar bachelor studies.
  • Enrolment at a Dutch university is required;
  • Guidance and assessment from the university, you will be guided by the Red Cross in drawing up learning objectives;
  • Open-minded and flexible attitude towards responsibilities and ad-hoc requests for support
  • Stress resistant, enterprising, team spirit, sense of humor, ability to work independently, good oral and written communication skills, representative;
  • Good command of the English language (both verbally and in writing);
  • Dutch (at least level level B1) is an advantage.
  • Familiarity and affinity with the work of the Red Cross is an advantage;

You will receive an internship agreement from the Netherlands Red Cross, in which, among other things, internship goals and the method of internship supervision are laid down. A statement from the internship supervisor of the university in question is also required. You will receive an internship allowance for your work.

The location of The Netherlands Red Cross office is The Hague, within walking distance of Laan van NOI station. Just like everyone else, you work partly at our beautiful office and partly from home.
