Freelance assignment for max 15 hours per week

Background

Sint Antonius Stichting Projecten (SAS-P Philanthropy) is a philanthropic foundation supporting initiatives that unleash the potential of people living in poverty in Sub Saharan Africa to make a durable shift to better socio-economic circumstances for them and their families. In SAS-P’s strategy, a good health, quality education and a dignified immediate living environment are thereto vital starting points. The Foundation makes sizeable grants to organizations that are cost-effective, can demonstrate scalable impact and have a strong and proximate track record. The SAS-P portfolio includes 45 non-profit organizations and the foundation invests multiyear funding into ca. 15 organizations per year with an average grant size of €400.000. The foundation is managed by a bureau of four people and supervised by an independent supervisory board.

 

Assignment Summary

The Portfolio Associate will assist in the grant making and monitoring of meaningful initiatives in Sub Saharan Africa that strive to durably improve the lives of people living in poverty. This role will include:

  • Monitoring the portfolio of grantees and applicants, including maintaining and building relationships and responding to their enquiries
  • Support with sourcing, diligence, and intake of applications
  • Support the General Manager with contributing to the grantmaking strategy, protocols and policies
  • Prepare written materials for the Foundation’s management and Board Supervisors
  • Prepare monitoring dashboards for the Foundation’s management and Board Supervisors
  • Update the SAS-P website
  • Occasionally represent the Foundation at partner events in The Netherlands
  • Being flexible in accepting and doing tasks that are not described here
  • Participate in Board meetings
  • International travel is not expected
  • You will report to the General Manager Philanthropy of the foundation

 

Your profile/ qualifications:

  • You have a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in effective poverty reduction programs or a related field
  • Previous grant management experience is preferred, but not required
  • You have a commitment to people living in poverty or extreme poverty
  • You know how to work with grant management software
  • You have significant experience in monitoring a portfolio of Ngo’s or social enterprises
  • You demonstrate effective problem solving, decision-making and timely delivery of work products and deadlines
  • You have financial analysis skills, including the ability to analyze audited financials, balance sheets, and business plans of nonprofit organizations or social enterprises
  • You are familiar with quantitative and qualitative research methods, including cost effectiveness analysis.
  • You have a Bachelors of MA degree in International Development, Non-Profit Management, Public Management, Business Administration, Development Economics or a related field
  • You are registered in the Netherlands and have a permanent work permit
  • You speak and understand English fluently
  • You speak and understand Dutch fluently
  • Fluent in French is preferred, but not required
  • You are a do-er and a strong analyst
  • You are an independent worker and a team player
  • You uphold personal and organizational values with integrity, kindness and humility
  • You communicate in a friendly, honest, and compelling way and it is a pleasure to work with you
  • You are registered as a freelancer in the Netherlands with a VAT number
  • You are immediately available

 

What we offer:

  • A standard freelance contract for 15 hours a week
  • Remuneration per hour is 70,00 euro excluding tax (BTW) and including all work-related expenses. After one year the fee will be inflation corrected.
