Internship – Build on the history of international cooperation on gender, global citizinship, climate and other sustainable topics.

Do you see the growing importance of international cooperation in these times of globalisation and climate change? Are you interested in international development cooperation with a focus on global citizenship and do you have an excellent proficiency in English and Dutch? Then the NICC Foundation is looking for you (www.stichtingnicc.nl).

The NICC Foundation is looking for interns to work on mapping the history of international cooperation and gender

Internship: build on the history of international cooperation Duration: at least 3 months (preferably longer in consultation). Working hours: at least 24 hours per week (in consultation). Start: from December 2024 /January 2025.

We are looking for interns and/or volunteers who like to work on timelines around different topics. A timeline describes the trends and developments from around the 1950s up to the present from a Dutch perspective with a focus on a specific theme. A timeline consists of text, documents, graphs, photos and/or short videos. Within timelines, references can be made to items in the NICC collection. Examples of different timelines can be found on https://stichtingnicc.nl/door-de-tijd/tijdlijnen/.

The NICC Foundation in short:

NICC stands for Netherlands International Cooperation Collection. The NICC Foundation manages a versatile collection and is committed to making experiences with international cooperation and sustainable development more transparent and insightful. NICC also wants to connect initiatives with each other, link experience to new knowledge and promote discussions about this. By doing so, NICC wants to contribute to a more sustainable and connected global society.

Your tasks

One of the ways in which Stichting NICC provides context for the collection is via timelines: https://stichtingnicc.nl/door-de-tijd/tijdlijnen/. The timelines provide an overview of the changes that have taken place around the theme in question. Oral histories, collection material and videos form the basis of the timelines. As an intern, you will work together with themed experts on timelines on various topics. As an individual internship assignment, you can also create the setup for a new timeline. In addition, you help with the internal communication with the volunteers, social media and with the organization of web-table-talks (webinars) about the timelines.

Your profile

You have a passion for global sustainable development in the past and the future HBO/WO working and thinking level, direction: history, international relations, political science etc. You have a good command of the English and Dutch language You are organizationally strong and creative

Our offer

An inspiring internship in a young foundation with passionate volunteers. Unfortunately, as a young foundation with few financial resources, Stichting NICC cannot offer an internship fee. However, this internship offers you the opportunity to gain experience and knowledge in the field of international cooperation. In addition, you have the creative freedom to start new initiatives and you can do research in a topic that you are interested in yourself. This also makes the internship easy to combine with a thesis.
