In a time when global fundraising priorities are shifting, this role is more important than ever. INSTITUTIONAL FUNDRAISER
32 hours per week
What the team does and what you will do
The Development & Partnerships Team is primarily responsible for securing the resources and partnerships essential to achieving Aidsfonds – Soa Aids Nederland’s mission: to end HIV and AIDS and ensure universal access to sexual health and rights for all. We do this by building sustained, diverse funding streams through engagement with a wide range of donors, including government and institutional partners, specific private donors, corporate sponsors, and foundations.
We are looking for an institutional fundraiser who combines strong hands-on experience managing large bid processes with partnership-building skills. You will coordinate and develop multi-partner proposals with teams across the organisation, turning ambitious ideas into high-quality, fundable submissions. At the same time, you will play an active role in cultivating relationships that support the long-term financial sustainability of our organisation.
Your main tasks and responsibilities
- Coordinate large proposal processes, ensuring timely, compliant and high-quality submissions to institutional and government donors (e.g. EU and/or Dutch MFA);
- Draft and edit compelling proposals and concept notes, weaving together technical, financial and narrative inputs from multiple teams and partners;
- Facilitate internal collaboration between programme, finance and M&E colleagues and coordinate contributions from consortium partners;
- Identify and assess new funding opportunities and translate these into concrete partnership or bid strategies;
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, partners and networks relevant to sexual and reproductive health and rights and HIV;
- Promote Aidsfonds – Soa Aids Nederland to new and existing supporters, funders and strategic allies;
- Provide advice and support to colleagues on donor engagement, proposal development and relationship management;
- Track donor trends, innovations and funding models, contributing ideas to strengthen our resource mobilisation strategies;
- Maintain knowledge management systems (e.g. funding pipeline, proposal tracker, donor database) and ensure lessons learned from each bid are shared.
What we offer:
We offer an ambitious and diverse organisation in which we cooperate and deliver quality on the basis of appealing goals and clear roles in an accessible, open and inspiring atmosphere. This is how we contribute to a world without AIDS and a drastic decrease in the number of STIs. You are welcome as you are, who you love or what you believe. We are curious about your talents and your social drive to work with us on our mission.
This role provides a unique opportunity for professional growth within the field of international development and fundraising, offering exposure to a wide range of stakeholders and projects.
We encourage applications from candidates who are passionate about international development, possess strong organizational skills, and are eager to make a meaningful impact in our work. Your ability to view issues from different perspectives and connect with the communities we serve—such as individuals living with HIV, women, youth and children, LGBTIQ+ individuals, people with a migration background, (former) sex workers, and (former) drug users—will be highly valued.
In addition, we offer:
- An exciting position;
- An employment contract initially for a period of 12 months, with the possibility of extension (depending on performance and sufficient funding);
- A salary between € 3.987,03 and € 6.073,86 gross per month (scale 11) based on 36 hours per week, depending on your relevant work experience;
- An individual choice budget (IKB) of 16,96% that you can use at your own discretion for money, time or spend fiscally advantageous on products or services;
- Hybrid working: You will work at our office in Amsterdam (Sloterdijk) or partly from home;
- Possibility of flexible working hours and setting your own schedule;
- NS Businesscard = 100% reimbursement of your commuting expenses by public transport;
- 208 hours of leave on a full-time basis (36 hours) and you can buy additional leave via the IKB;
- Personal development budget of €650 per year based on 36 hours.
About you
You are a strong project manager, confident communicator and strategic thinker. You enjoy the challenge of coordinating large bids and take pride in turning collective ideas into winning proposals. You are equally comfortable in relationship-building settings—networking, presenting, and cultivating partnerships that align with our mission.
You have:
- A university or HBO degree (or equivalent experience) in international development, public health, social sciences, or a related field;
- At least 4 years of experience in fundraising, business development or partnership management, preferably within an international NGO;
- Proven experience leading or writing large-scale institutional proposals, ideally with donors such as EU, UN, USAID, Global Fund, or Dutch MFA;
- Excellent English writing and editing skills; proficiency in Dutch is a strong asset;
- Strong networking, negotiation, and relationship-management skills;
- A strategic, creative, and entrepreneurial approach to resource mobilisation;
- The ability to manage multiple deadlines, maintain oversight and deliver under pressure;
- A collaborative spirit, sense of humour and commitment to Aidsfonds’ values and communities;
