The Climate Litigation Network (CLN) is looking for a highly organised and enthusiastic Administrative Assistant (4 days/32 hours per week) to join our growing team.

As CLN’s Administration Assistant, you’ll provide support to other members of the CLN team (split between Amsterdam and London) and play a vital role in keeping CLN running smoothly and efficiently. This is a new and varied role, offering a great chance to get involved across the organisation and develop new skills.

Key responsibilities include:

Diary, travel and event co-ordination

  • Help manage team diaries and check/set dates for meetings, trips and events.
  • Arrange accommodation and transport for international travel.
  • Arrange online and in-person meetings and occasional events, and provide logistical support as needed (e.g. organising refreshments and event resources, registering attendees, supporting in-person events).

  • Check and upload invoices onto our finance system for authorisation/payment.
  • Support the Head of Operations in liaising with the accoutants and payroll agency, and other aspects of financial administration.

Information management

  • Maintain effective internal information management systems to ensure team members can share and access files/resources, including on Sharepoint, Trello and Outlook.
  • Help maintain and upload documents to CLN’s new Information Hub (in development).

Operations and administrative support

  • Support with recruitment and HR administration; e.g. placing adverts, arranging interviews, maintaining confidential records, keep annual leave/sick leave records.
  • Provide administrative support to CLN colleagues at the (shared) Amsterdam office; e.g. collecting post, buying office supplies, occasional administrative support to the wider office as needed.
  • Support the Head of Operations on other aspects of CLN’s smooth day-to-day running and compliance including liaising with our IT support company and insurers, health and safety, and updating/sharing key policies and procedures.

The above responsibilities are indicative, and the postholder will be expected to take on other tasks and responsibilities that reasonably fall within the scope of the role.

You’ll be enthusiastic with a flexible approach, ‘can do’ attitude, and a commitment to sustainability and climate action. You’ll like variety and enjoy getting involved in a range of different tasks across our small but growing organisation, working with our Legal Associates as well as our Head of Operations and Co-Directors. Ideally you’ll bring experience in a similar administrative/team support role and an understanding of working in the non-profit sector, but we welcome transferable skills and a willingness to learn. As an English-speaking organisation, you’ll need to have strong English language skills as well as Dutch.

Ideally you will have:

  • 1+ year experience of providing administrative support to a person or team.
  • Excellent organisational skills, and the ability to manage a varied workload independently and effectively.
  • An aptitude for organising meetings, events and travel arrangements smoothly and efficiently.
  • Good working knowledge of ICT (we use Microsoft Office, Sharepoint and Trello).
  • Strong interpersonal and written skills.
  • Thoroughness, accuracy and attention to detail – including both written and numeric information.
  • High level of flexibility and be comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Understanding of the importance of confidentiality.
  • High level of spoken and written English and Dutch.
  • Commitment to sustainability and climate action.

Desirable experience:

  • Experience of financial administration.
  • Experience of working for a non-profit or legal organisation.
  • Experience of working in geographically dispersed teams.

Note to candidates: We know that some candidates will not apply for a role unless they feel they are 100% qualified. If you feel you meet at least some of the essential criteria above, we still encourage you to apply.

  • An interesting and diverse working environment, within a small and dynamic team split between Amsterdam and London.
  • One year contract, with likelihood of renewal, for 4 days (32 hours) per week – this can be worked over 4 or 5 days as preferred.
  • Salary of between EUR 2.700 – 3.100 gross per month full time (pro rata for 32 hours) depending on skills and experience, plus 8% holiday pay and 5% pension contribution.
  • 25 days annual leave (pro rata for part time).
  • A workplace based in central Amsterdam, with the opportunity for hybrid working.
  • Opportunity to get together with all CLN colleagues in Amsterdam or London 2-3 times a year.
  • Individual training budget.

The Climate Litigation Network (CLN) is a non-profit foundation that works with partners around the world to drive stronger climate action through litigation against high-emitting actors.

Following its landmark case in the Netherlands – which led to the first ever decision of a court globally to order a national government to increase its climate ambition – Urgenda established CLN in 2016, so that the ground-breaking legal strategy and expertise developed through the case could inspire and strengthen other climate cases brought against governments across the world.

In 2023, CLN was established as an independent stichting (foundation) with not-for-profit status. Today, we work with local partners and affected communities all over the world to develop litigation to hold global temperature increase below 1.5°C, based on best available science and the protection of human rights. You can learn more about CLN on our website.

Please complete our online application. You will be asked to attach your CV and provide a supporting statement explaining why you are interested in CLN and why you are right for the role.

If you have any queries about the role or process, please email

Deadline: Thursday 18 July (midnight). CLN reserves the right to close applications early.

All applicants must have the right to work in the Netherlands. CLN is unable to sponsor work visas.
